The Africa Drive Project first saw the light of day in January 2001. To date much has been achieved.

January 2002 - June 2003: Project Preparation
Project planning was completed in June 2003 and included the following:

- ADP curriculum framework
- Partnership arrangements
- Project buy-in for all stakeholders,
  including trade unions
- Learning portal operational

July 2003 - December 2005: Project Implementation
Implementation commenced on 13 July 2003 and to date the following has been achieved:

The ADP learning portal has been 
commissioned.

All of the eight learning centres has   been opened: 
-  Vaal Reefs Technical High School in Orkney
-  North West University Mafikeng Campus
-  North West University Satellite Campus at Mankwe
-  Baitiredi High School in Kuruman
-  Baitshoki High School in Itsoseng
-  Bathlaping High School in Taung
-  Bakwena High School in Brits
-  HF Tlou High School in Rustenburg

Formal learning, preceded by basic 
computer (keyboard and application skills) 
and educator exposure to a transformation 
intervention commenced on 19 July 2005.

The ADP project implementation was reviewed during 2005 and a number of corrective actions were identified, amongst other the requirement to revisit the models developed and the fast-tracking of Transformation and Change Management interventions.

Currently there are 170 active students enrolled in the ADP Project.
